Let’s break the ice….

My name is Ashley Cordi, and I am a  photo stylist.

My specialty is in props, set design, and wardrobe, but let’s talk about the real life kind of stuff. I’ve always loved fashion. Maybe not as long as I can remember, but at least since I was about 12. I can remember altering my shoes or wearing colored paper clips as earrings because I loved odd and interesting things. After a few years, this turned into an obsession with watching the runway shows of every main fashion house as soon as fashion week was over. I’ve slowly become acquainted with the world of high fashion, and the designers who make it fabulous. For a while, I even considered going to fashion school so that I could design my very own fabulous clothes. This might be where my love of design comes in. In my opinion, clothing is just another type of decoration or design, so in my world, the two are easily linked. There can be purpose and ingenuity in a chair, as well as an outfit. Everything in the world has an aesthetic of its own, and finding the interesting and wonderful things in that aesthetic just makes life more fun!

The reason I love to do styling is because it is the ultimate creative outlet for me. This job gives me the chance to create different worlds within a single photograph. There’s just something amazing about that. I’ve recently become more interested in the set designs of film and television. There is always purpose and thought behind these things, and the more I become interested in design, the more this all fascinates me! I would ultimately love to mainly do editorial work, as fashion photography, to me, is its own genre of art.

When it comes down to it, I’m really a big, fat nerd.     I have a penchant for all of the following::     Art * Museums * Antiques * Thrifting * Coffee * Music (my life’s blood)* Classic Movies (Katharine Hepburn, anyone?) * Anything Disney * Being a Book Worm * Books! * Libraries * Book Stores… * Anything French! * Food! * and Amazing Landscapes that can whisk you away like a dream.

I am also currently going to school to receive my elementary teaching credential. This has been a great experience, and I hope to someday have a class of my very own with great young minds to mold. This is probably why I am such a nerd: I LOVE to learn! And I don’t think I will ever stop learning, as long as I live!

And lastly, my desire in all of this is to do all to the praise and glory of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
